River City Revival board announced
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Chester Chamber of Commerce met at Reid's Harvest House, Tuesday, January 18, 2011.
President Welge announced that the first River City Revival Board meeting will be held January 18. The corporation's board members are: Tom Welge, Chris Blechle, Dan Colvis, Sandra Starr, Brenda Owen, Allen Kaisor, and Linda Sympson. The first order of business of the newly formed board is to review the Economic Development Strategy compiled by IN(ALLIANCE), LLC, compiled for the City of Chester in the fall of 2009. The corporation has applied for 501C status. The Chester Chamber provided "seed" money to help the corporation with initial expenses.
It was announced that Chris Martin, Randolph County Economic Development Director, resigned for personal reasons.
A re-opening ribbon cutting was held at Rent One on December 9th. Chester Subway hosted a grand reopening for Chamber members, City officials, and other guests on January 4th. JCS Wireless, Domino's Pizza, and Drew McClellan with Edward Jones are located at the Chester Center. Ribbon cutting ceremonies will be held in the near future.
Businesses owners are reminded to let the Chamber Office know of any special anniversary or special occasion so that it can be posted on the top two lines of the Chester Welcome sign. The advertising is free for chamber members and is in a highly visible location.
This year's annual meeting schedule was reviewed and discussed. There will be several lunch meetings with a program and/or guest speaker. The annual dinner will be held in June.
In December, several Chester Chamber members judged Sparta's Lighting Contest and Sparta judged Chester's contest. The Boat Club and Chamber's co-sponsored "Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus" was well attended.
The Chamber's Annual Fish/Shrimp dinner will be at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Friday, February 25th.
Two director vacancies are open on the Chamber Board. Anyone interested in serving as a director should contact the Chamber Office at 826.2721. Director terms are for two years.
Annual dues should be submitted to the Chamber Office by February 1.
