BASKETBALL: Hoyleton knocks out #204 girls
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[In what became a free throw shooting contest in the final thirty seconds, Pinckneyville District #204 fell in heartbreaking fashion to Hoyleton on Monday night 31-30, ending their season in the Class S Regional Finals.
The Lady Tigers led 20-15 at halftime, but Hoyleton chipped away and tied the game with 6:15 to play.
From there, #204 was only 5-for-10 at the free throw line while Hoyalton left the door open after banking in one-of-two at the stripe with 9.9 seconds remaining to go up by one.
After a timeout, the Tigers had to go the length of the floor. Taylor Smith drove the lane, but her shot was off the rim and Sophie Keith's putback was after the buzzer.
#204 connected on only two field goals in the second half and made just 14-of-24 free throws in the game.
Keith led the Lady Tigers with 13 points, Megan Bagley had 8, Torrie Carter 4, Smith 3 and Caitie Opp 2.
Pinckneyville (Dist. #204) ends the season with a 22-5 mark and a conference championship.
