Cohen Complex topics heard at council meeting
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Due to the Martin Luther King holiday the Chester City Council held their meeting on Tuesday,?January 18.
The council tabled, pending further information, the Park Board's recommendation to rehire Roy Brockmeyer as ball diamond groundskeeper for the Cole Park and Cohen Complex. The council did however approve the Park Board's recommendation regarding changing location for the temporary concession building at Cohen Complex. They then tabled the Park Board 's recommendation to hire concessionaires for Cohen Complex. The council authorized City Attorney Jeff Kerkhover to come up with an agreement and to present it at a future meeting.
An ordinance abating the tax hereto levied for the year 2010 to pay the principal of and interest on $2,890,000 General Obligation Bonds (Waterworks and Sewerage System Alternate Revenue Source), Series 2002, of the City of Chester, Randolph County, Illinois was approved by the council. The ordinance abating the tax hereto levied for the year 2010 to pay the principal of and interest on $6,695,000 General Obligation Refunding Bonds (Waterworks and Sewerage System Alternate Revenue Source), Series 2005A, of the City of Chester, Randolph County, Illinois was also approved. The ordinance abating real estate tax levied for 2010 payable in 2011 on the Manor at Craig Farms was approved as well.
In other council news:
The council approved the ordinance amending two hour parking on Swanwick Street between Roberts Street and Morrison Street. From 7:00 a.m. through 9:00 a.m. the parking will be for residents only.
The IDOT Resolution to appropriate $55,000.00 MFT funds for sidewalk replacement program was passed.
Thoevenot, Wade & Moerchen, Inc. was approved to proceed with engineering work for Chester Walking Trail (Lochhead Lane to Cohen Complex).
The council authorized the Chief of Police to pursue partnership with SWIC regarding pharmaceutical disposal program
The council reviewed minutes of Executive Sessions and determined none of them should be made available to the public.
In their final action of the night, the council reviewed verbatim records of closed sessions and determined records older than 18 months can be destroyed.
