Yellow Jackets split games

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[After a long layoff, Chester&#39;s boys basketball squad returned to the court for two games last week. Unfortunately, the first game was a rough one as Chester struggled in a 51-47 loss to Christopher. The Yellow Jackets led 13-9 after one quarter, but Christopher went on a 15-8 run in the second to lead by three at halftime. The Yellow Jackets did attempt to rally a few times in the fourth quarter but never could regain the lead.

Three players for Chester finished in double digits. Matt Chandler scored 14 points, Kyle Landon had 13 and Zach Lochhead had 12. Steven Dial had a good game for Christopher and finished with 23 points.

Chester bounced back on Friday to post a 66-42 win over Elverado. Coach Robert Bell shook up the lineup for this contest, using all sophomores and and juniors in the first half. Landon was the hot shooter in the first two quarters, putting in 14 points as Chester found themselves down by one at halftime. With the seniors back in the lineup, Chester went on a 13-0 run in the middle of the third quarter to put the contest out of reach.

Lochhead finished as the leading scorer with 26 points, Landon had 20, Chandler, Justin Woodward and Chris Schwartz put in four each and Caleb Arbeiter, Matt Heberlie and Brandon Straight added two points apiece.Dalton Porter led Elverado with 10 points.

The junior varsity won two games last week. Against Christopher the came out on top by a score of 55-41. Dalton Misuraca led with nine points while Alex Weir and Casey Venable added eight apiece. The game against Elverado went to Chester by a score of 65-55. Venable had 20 points for the Yellow Jackets, Misuraca put in 15 and Landon scored 10.
