VOLLEYBALL: DMS now 5-0 after win over Trico
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The DuQuoin Middle School Eighth Grade Volleyball Team continued to add to their winning record on Tuesday evening by defeating Trico 2-0 in a match at home. The Seventh Grade Team also won 2-0 to make it a sweep for DuQuoin
The eighth grade game scores were 25-9 and 25-16 in DuQuoin's favor. Tamera Hamilton was 1-1 at the serving line with 2 kills. Amanda Atteberry was 7-8 at the line, scoring 5 points with 4 aces. Atteberry had 4 kills and 4 digs as well. Carissa Graham was 10-11 at the line, scoring 9 points with 5 aces. Graham had 7 assists and 3 digs. Amber Williams was 8-8 at the line scoring 7 points with 3 aces and 3 digs. Jacqueline Harsy was 1-2 at the serving line, one point scored and one ace. Harsy had 2 kills and a dig. Hope Fenton was 11-11 at the line, scoring 9 points on 3 aces, two kills, and one assist. Alaina Caldwell was 6-7 at the line, scoring 5 points on two aces. Sydney Lewis was 1-1 at the line. Also seeing playing time were Dayja Raysby, Jessica Harsy, Hannah Werner, and Shelby Simmons. The Warriors now have a 5-0 record.
Coach Isaac Miller commented that "we want to improve every game, and we are doing that. We are improving with every match. That is all you can ask. We had another good night."
The seventh grade game scores were 25-22 and 25-20; DuQuoin winning the match 2-0. The seventh grade record is 4-1. Alaina Caldwell was 14-15 at the serving line, scoring 12 points with 7 aces, and two kills. Sydney Valier was 2-3 at the line with an ace and two kills. Taylor Gates was 4-6 at the line on 3 aces, scoring 4 points, and one kill. Sydney Lewis was 4-5 on serves with 3 aces, and one assist. Allyson Morgan was 2-2 on serves with an ace, and scored one point. Brittany Clark was 5-6 at the line, had two aces, one point, two kills and one dig. Abigail Vancil was 9-9 at the line with 5 points. Grace Bastien, Ivy Nessa, Harley Dearmond, Madeline Cravens, and Timbra Mansfield also had playing time for the Warriors. Katey Harsy, Carlie Daffron, and Kristyna Queen also are on the team.
The seventh graders are coached by Staci Davis and Paul Miller.
The sixth grade team also played several games prior to the seventh grade match. Trico was the winner of that match.
DuQuoin travels to Murphysboro on Thursday for a match (4:30).
