VOLLEYBALL: Warriors first in Anna Tournament

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[DuQuoin Middle School traveled to Anna for a Volleyball Tournament on Saturday. The eighth grade team played four matches during the day and came home first in the tournament.

The first match was with Jonesboro. DuQuoin won the match 2-0 with scores of 25-12 and 25-19. The next match was with the host school, Anna. DMS beat Anna 2-0 with game scores of 25-15 and 25-13.

The third match was with Lick Creek. DuQuoin won the first game 25-7, but Lick Creek won the second game 25-20. That match was declared a tie since no third games were played in the tournament.

The fourth match for DMS was with DeSoto. DuQuoin took both games at 25-17 and 25-21 winning the match 2-0. DuQuoin Middle School ended up with a 3-0-1 record in the tournament. DeSoto finished second in the tournament.

DuQuoin&#39;s overall record is now 8-1-1. Coach Isaac Miller was very happy with his team&#39;s performance. "This is the best we have played. We played really well on Saturday." Coach Miller also pointed out that every player participating was able to play in a game.

Coach Miller noted several players that lead the team. Hope Fenton led in kills with 26 for the tournament. Amanda Atteberry had 17. Carissa Graham had 60 assists during the tournament. Jacqueline Harsy led in digs with 16 followed by Amber Williams with 14. Alaina Caldwell led in service points with 39 and 12 aces. Amanda Atteberry had 33 points with 14 aces.

The DMS Volleyball teams play on Tuesday at Nashville.
