Hosted by the music studios of Caroline Gilster Wylie and Becky Browning, the students performed a variety of music from absolutely beginning music all the way to advanced Mozart Sonatas. All those attending enjoyed a winter supper of Sloppy Joes and Baked Macaroni & Cheese, along with Hot Dogs & Baked Beans, Cole Slaw and a wide variety of desserts.
Those performing (in the following picture) were: Adeline Blechle, Allison Venus, Ashtyn Jany, Emma Naeger, Kamryn Wingerter, Kendall Browning, Lauryn Vasquez, Lily Koch, Katy Liefer, Nate Rains, Landon Hornbostel, Alyse Vasquez, Ellen Blechle, Jocelyn Landeros, Mallary Vasquez, Mitchell Colonel, Ashleigh Stegmann, Hanna Bert, Lexi Brockhouse, Sarah Liefer, Emily Tudor, Emily Fricke, Kari Schenk, Sydney Hood, Kira Browning, Kylie Liefer, and Tasha Pulliam. Among the students the ages ranged from age 6 ½ to age 17 and the group included 5 sets of siblings.
When asked for comments, both Mrs. Wylie and Mrs. Browning glowed with pride over the growth and ability of their respective students and urged all young people in Chester to consider studying music, including piano, instrumental music such as guitar and violin , or band and chorus. They each stated that young people learn how to function in a group and as a cohesive unit when they take band or study music, as much as children do when they study a sport. Both of them laughed as they mentioned that, in addition, band marching produces no dislocated shoulders, knees or sprained ankles and bruises such as those that result in a sport plus the students learn a life-long skill in enjoying and performing music.
