Sheriff's department warns of Medicare scam

Hoelscher is warning the citizens of Randolph County and adjacent Counties to be aware of a scam involving citizens getting contacted via telephone with the caller requesting their Medicare ID number. The callers involved in this scam are of Foreign dissent and are difficult to understand. Sheriff Hoelscher warns that if a Medicare ID number is provided to the caller then Identity Theft and subsequent Fraud can result. Sheriff Hoelscher warns that anyone who has been contacted in this scam, and has provided their Medicare ID to the caller, should now monitor their credit report to avoid Identity Theft and Fraud in the future.
