VOLLEYBALL: PJHS tops Trico, #204 falls to Chester St. John

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Pinckneyville Junior High School (District #50) knocked off Trico in girls volleyball action on Monday evening, winning 25-22 and 25-6 behind the accurate serving of Keelyn Stein.

After winning a well-contested opening game, the Junior Panthers got off to a 16-0 start in the second, all on serves by Stein, who had a team-high 19 service points for the match.

Kaitlyn Sweeney added 6 points serving, Taylor Griffin and Ashley Maxey each had 5, and Brittany Lowe and Kaitlyn Goldman 1.

PJHS also won the seventh grade contest, taking the tie-breaker 19-17 after splitting the first two games 25-15 and 23-25.

The Junior Panthers head to Nashville on Tuesday afternoon for a 4:00 p.m. contest, then host Sparta (Mar. 8) and Chester (Mar. 10) next week before Regionals begin the following week.

Also on Monday, Chester St. John defeated Pinckneyville (District #204) 25-28 and 25-23 in the Tigers&#39; home gym, also taking the seventh grade contest 25-10, 26-24.

For the Tigers, Caitie Opp led the way with 9 service points and 4 aces. Taylor Smith added 5 points, Courtney Kellerman 2 and Emily Kuberski and Kristin Kellerman 1.

Pinckneyville (Dist. #204) is in action again on Tuesday at OLMC (5:30 p.m.), then hosts Desoto on Wednesday (5:30 p.m.) before their conference tournament on March 5.
