Regina Zyk

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Our beloved mother, Regina Zyk, 86, of Nashville, Ill., passed away at 2:18 a.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the home of her daughter, Rose Numi, in Du Quoin surrounded by her loving family.

Regina was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church at Du Bois. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. First and foremost, she enjoyed spending time with her children and their families. Her hobbies included quilting, reading and gardening.

She was born June 26, 1924 at Du Bois, Ill., the daughter of Sylvester and Joan (Rybacki) Kuberski.

She married Walter Zyk on Feb. 5, 1944 at the St. Charles Catholic Church at Du Bois and he preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 2003.

She is survived by six children - Rose Numi and husband John of Du Quoin, Rita Jablonski and husband Jim of Du Bois, Joan Weisel and husband Harold of Tamaroa, John Zyk and wife Kandice of Mt. Vernon, Leona Jablonski and husband Joe of Highland and Leon Zyk and wife Juliann of Du Bois, two brothers - Charles Kuberski and wife Mary and Ralph Kuberski, all of Du Bois, 13 grandchildren - Mary Huggins and husband Andy of Tamaroa, Paul Numi and wife Martha of Pinckneyville, Chris Numi and wife Tiffany of Du Quoin, Michael Numi and wife Brittany of Du Quoin, Mark Jablonski and fiance Brittney Oliver of Du Bois, Matthew Jablonski of Du Bois, Jeremy Weisel and wife Rhonda of Pinckneyville, Amanda Harris and husband Jason of Du Quoin, Joshua Zyk of Williamsburg, Va., Dave Jablonski and wife Priscilla of Redondo Beach, Calif., Beth Hurt and husband Aaron of Franklin, Tenn., Hannah Zyk and Sarah Zyk, both of Du Bois and 18 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, twin sisters in infancy, two brothers - Leonard Kuberski and John Kuberski, one sister - Theresa, and one granddaughter - Jennifer Zyk.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2011 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois with Fr. Oliver Nwachukwu and Fr. Andy Knopik officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.

Rosary was prayed at 7:30 p.m., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.

Burial was in the St. Charles Cemetery at Du Bois.

Friends may make memorials to the St. Charles Catholic Church Renovation Fund and will be accepted at the church or funeral home.
