Virginia Lee Bastien
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Virginia Lee Bastien, 80, of Vergennes, died at 3:10 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 in Murphysboro.
Virginia was born Oct. 14, 1930 in Ora Township, Jackson County, Ill., a daughter to the late Grover and Emma (Williamson) Herring. She was united in marriage to Jack Dean Bastien on June 19, 1948 in Vergennes, Ill. Jack preceded her in death on June 8, 1992.
Virginia was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Vergennes and was also a member of the United Methodist Women's association.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro. Rev. Tena Bigham officiated.
Burial was at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park near Murphysboro.
Visitation was from 10 a.m. until 1p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the Rehab & Care Center of Jackson County or to the donor's choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Survivors include two sons and two daughters-in-law, Dennis and Lisa Bastien and Randall and Carol Bastien, all of Du Quoin; five grandchildren, Nolan (Jennifer) Bastien of Indianapolis, Ind., Collin Bastien of Nashville, Tenn., Wyatt Bastien, Annie Claire Bastien and Grace Bastien, all of Du Quoin; two great granddaughters, Avery Ann Bastien and Olivia Marie Bastien, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; several nieces and nephews and her very special friend and caregiver, Mary Craig of Vergennes.
In addition to her husband Jack, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Albert Herring and three sisters, Lela Varnum, Inez Sherman and Jean Boly.
