BASKETBALL: Wheeler named to All-State 2nd team
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Du Quoin senior Connor Wheeler has been named to the 2011 Associated Press Class 2A Basketball All-State Second Team for his efforts this season with the Indians.
Wheeler averaged 21 points per game for DHS while also posting 6 rebounds p.g., 3.9 assists p.g., and 2.8 steals p.g. for the 21-6 Indians, who won the Sparta Regional Championship and were eliminated by Harrisburg in last week's Sectional.
The senior guard was named to all-tournament teams for the Duster Thomas Hoops Classic and Sparta Mid-Winter Classic this season and was named IBCA All-State Honorable Mention in 3A last year while attending Carbondale.

The Class 1A and Class 2A Illinois all-state boys basketball teams for 2010-11, as voted on by a statewide panel of sports writers and broadcasters and compiled by Marty Maciaszek of the (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald. Five points were awarded for a first-team vote and four points for a second-team vote. A player must have been named on two ballots to be named honorable mention.
Class 1A
