</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Edward "Slick" Bendorf, 89, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 1:22 am, Thursday, March 17, 2011 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
He was born to the late Edward and Maude (nee: Leavitt) Bendorf on June 11, 1921 in Ellis Grove, Illinois.
Edward married Isabelle A. Scheltgen on November 26, 1949 in Chester, IL. She survives.
He was an Army Veteran of WWII. He was retired from being a Sergeant at Menard Correctional Center in Chester.
Edward was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester, IL. He was a member of the Chester Eagles Aerie #3252 and a life member of the Chester VFW Post #3553.

Preceded in death by: Parents, 1 infant Son - Edward Ray Bendorf, 2 Sons-in-law - James Chandler and Mike Ludwig, 1 Brother and 4 Sisters
Funeral Services were held 10:00 am, Monday, March 21, 2011 at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, IL

Visitation was held Sunday - 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Monday - 7:30 am - 10:00 am at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, IL
