Hubert B. Parks

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Hubert B. Parks, age 88, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 9:10 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Hubert was born on June 29, 1922 in Delaplaine, Ark., a son to James and Pinta (Gray) Parks. On June 29, 1946, he married Alene Schmidt in Steeleville, Ill. and she preceded him in death on Aug. 25, 1997. Hubert was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the First Baptist Church, Cutler, Ill., Masonic Alma Lodge 497, Steeleville, Ill. and the Transportation Communication International Union. He was an agent yard master for Missouri Pacific Railroad, retiring after 44 years. Hubert was an accomplished traveler who recently visited several countries in Europe, the state of Hawaii and toured the West Coast. He made many friends on his travels and will be missed by all.

Hubert is survived by one daughter, Frances Thomas of Pinckneyville, Ill. and one grandson, Benjamin Thomas of St. Louis, Mo. and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alene; three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church, Cutler, Ill. on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Blu Berner officiating. Interment was in Cutler City Cemetery, Cutler, Ill. Graveside military rites were provided by Presswood-Daffron American Legion, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

Memorials may be made to the Perry County Humane Society or First Baptist Church, Cutler, Ill.
