Roy Allen Knapp

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Roy Allen Knapp, age 85, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 11:25 p.m. in Nature Trail Health Center, Mt. Vernon, Ill.

Roy was born on November 7, 1925 in Du Quoin, Ill., a son to Nelson C. and Elle Marie (McElroy) Knapp. On July 24, 1947, he married Betty (Hubler) in Pinckneyville, Ill. and she survives. Roy was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during WW II in the South Pacific Theater. He owned and operated Knapp Bus Services and Hubler Auto Sales for many years. Roy was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill., Presswood-Daffron American Legion, Pinckneyville, Ill., Masonic Lodge, Pinckneyville, Ill. and was past president of Mueller Hill Cemetery. He was a loyal fan of the Pinckneyville Panthers and dearly loved spending time with his family.

Roy is survived by his wife; one son, Ted (Susan) Knapp of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; two grandchildren, Jared Knapp of Mt. Vernon, Ill. and Megan Knapp of St. Louis, Mo. and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Roger Knapp; and two sisters, Roberta Vineyard and Eileen in infancy.

Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Tim Bauersachs officiating. Interment was in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Masonic services were held on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
