SOFTBALL: PCHS stays hot with win over Ham. Co.
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Lady Panthers are now 6-0 following a 14-5 home softball victory over Hamilton County on Wednesday afternoon in Pinckneyville.
Maddy Keith was 4-for-5 at the plate, drove in 3 runs and scored 3 more. Last season's RBI leader Mo Ramsey was 2-for-4 with her team-leading third home run of the young season, driving in 4 runs and scoring 2.
Ramsey and Keith share the team lead in RBI's this season with 7, Ramsey leads the way in runs scored with 8, but Keith is close behind with 7. Keith, the team's leadoff hitter, is currently batting .440 in 25 at-bats for PCHS.
Sara Malanowski was 2-for-4 with a run, Taylor Kuhnert 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and Dani Schoenbacher also tallied a hit (1-3).
"We hit the ball well and played solid defense, making no errors," said first-year Pinckneyville head softball coach Mike Cheek.
Emily Champman (3-0) was the winning pitcher, surrendering 9 hits, 5 earned runs, 2 walks and striking out 6.
The Lady Panthers are at Alton Marquette on Friday for a 4:30 p.m. game before hosting Trico on Monday.
