Juanita A. Martie
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Juanita A. Martie, 95, of Elkville, passed away at 7:45 a.m., Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County at Murphysboro, Ill.
Juanita was a homemaker. She had been a bookkeeper for a gas company and had been a cook for several years at Elkville High School in the 1950's. Many people knew her as Grandma. She was a member of the Hallidayboro Methodist Church.
She was born Oct. 19, 1915 at Hallidayboro, Ill, the daughter of James and Rose (Spangler) Halstead.
She married Clarence Martie on March 8, 1935 at Carterville, Ill. and he preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 1976.
She is survived by two sons - Lindell Martie and wife Iris of Ramsey, Ill. and Jerry Martie and wife Sue of Elkville, one sister - Phyllis Loucks of Christopher, one brother-in-law - Clyde Martie of Elkville, six grandchildren - Brian, Dale, Karen, Julie, Tim and Doug, 10 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters - Clara Jacobs and Naomi Leek and three brothers - Clifford Halstead, Maynard Halstead and Fallon Halstead.
Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Paul Brown officiating.
Friends called from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial was in the Elkville Cemetery at Elkville.
Friends may make memorials to the Hallidayboro Methodist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
