Verla Marie Cook, a resident of Marble Hill, died on Monday, April 18, 2011 surrounded by her family at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born on August 18, 1932i in rural Marble Hill, daughter of the late Delzie and Bertha Cook. She had worked for more than 40 years combined at the Brown Shoe Factory, Advance, International Hat, Lutesville and International Shoe, Jackson and retiring from Henchel Manufacturing. She was a member of the Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church. Verla loved to spend time with her family. She also loved to go camping, gardening and going to the auction.

On June 26, 1960 she married Elbert Cook, who survives of the home. Other survivors include: 6 children: Brenda Cates of Jackson, Mike and Mary Sander, Sue and Joe Jordan, Pam and Rick Terbrak, Janet Cook all of Marble Hill and Pat and Winthol Frailey of Jackson; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; one brother Clytus and Bev Cook of Marble Hill.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one grandson Adam Terbrak and one brother Dewey Cook.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

Funeral Services will be on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at the Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church with Rev. Steven Sander, Rev. Donnie Cook and Rev. Alan Terbrak officiating. Interment will follow in the James Cemetery near Marble Hill.
