Helen Ruby Wynn
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Helen Ruby (Woodside) Wynn, 90, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:40 p.m., Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Fairview Nursing Center in Du Quoin.
Helen was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Du Quoin. She also attended the First Pentecostal Church of Tamaroa, where she frequently played the piano. Helen was employed by Turco Manufacturing Company for many years. She also worked in the kitchen at Marshall Browning Hospital, Fairview Nursing Home and Gold Plate. Helen later sat with elderly people before total retirement. She loved worshiping our Lord, caring for her family, working in her yard, writing poetry, crocheting afghans and playing the piano.
She was born July 22, 1920 at St. Johns, Ill., the daughter of James and Amanda (Elder) Woodside.
She married Virgil Arthur Wynn on April 6, 1937 at Perry County, Ill. and he preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1969.
She is survived by her children - Dolores (Lamar) Alvis of Du Quoin, Pat (Ron) Carter of Tamaroa, Bernice (Clarence) Kreger of Du Bois, Donald Wynn of Rosiclaire, Margie Still of Benton and Judy (Charles) Helsley of Du Quoin, grandchildren - Cathy Chaney, Launa Harsy, Sherri Smith, Travis Helsley, Brenda Hagan, Tammy Yung, Carrie Kreger, Kelly Jo Bryan, Phillip Alvis II, Sara Atkins, Amy Greenwood, Jubal Alvis, Kevin Carter, Sean Carter, Marci Swetland, Matthew Ragland, Cassie Craven, Chuckie Still, Carla Milam and Tara Wynn, 48 great grandchildren, 23 great great grandchildren, one brother - Richard (Sharon) Woodside, two sisters - Mabel (James) Wiesel and Lillian Downen, sister-in-law - Wilma Woodside, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers - Jimmie Woodside, Ray Woodside, Cecil Woodside and Clyde Woodside, two sisters - Amanda Woodside and Phyllis Huggins, one son - Virgil Wayne "Junie" Wynn, an infant daughter - Ruby Pauline Wynn, one daughter-in-law - Ruth Ann Wynn-Farmer, one grandson - Doug Wynn, one great granddaughter - Madison Ragland, and one great grandson - Seth Milam.
Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the First United Pentecostal Church in Du Quoin with Rev. C.L. McKinnies, Rev. Dan McKinnies, and Rev. Jackie Joe Davison officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the First United Pentecostal Church in Du Quoin and from 8 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday.
Burial was in the Paradise Cemetery at Tamaroa.
Friends may make memorials to the Paradise Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
