BASEBALL: Early damage carries Carmi over EHS

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Carmi-White County visited Dowell on Monday and knocked off Elkville 18-3 in baseball action, picking up 7 runs in the top of the first inning to set the tone for the game.

The Bulldogs got six more runs in the third inning, four in the fourth, and another in the fifth.

The Falcons picked up their first tally in the bottom of the second when Christian Kistner singled and scored. Then in the third, three straight singles by Bryce Mathis, Troy Stewart, and Brian McClanahan plated two more.

Stewart was 2-for-3 (R, RBI) batting to lead EHS. Mathis (1-3, R), McClanahan (1-3, RBI) and Kistner (1-3, R) had the other Falcon base hits. Eli Fennell, Stewart, and McClanahan handled the pitching duties.

Elverado hosts Cobden on Wednesday, with an early scheduled start at 3:30 p.m.

The fifth-seeded Falcons begin Regional play on Monday, May 16th in Steeleville, where they meet the fourth-seeded Warriors at 4:30 p.m. to decide who draws top seed Marissa two days later in the semifinals.
