SOFTBALL: Lady Panthers beat Benton 7-2

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Pinckneyville has now won three of their last four on the softball diamond after Tuesday&#39;s 7-2 road win over Benton.

The Lady Panthers connected for nine hits coming from six different spots in the lineup.

Sara Malanowski started the game for PCHS and went the first three and a third innings before yielding to winning pitcher Emily Chapman (8-5), who went three and two-thirds shutout innings. Malanowski allowed two earned runs on five hits and a walk to go along with five strikeouts. Chapman gave up three hits and a walk and struck out three.

At the dish, Taylor Kuhnert led the way with a 3-for-4 day that included a double and an RBI. Mo Ramsey (2-4, 3B) had a pair of hits, scored, and also drove in a run.

Maddy Keith (1-4, R), Shersty Stanton (1-2, HR, R, RBI), Kortney Crawford (1-2, R, RBI) and Dani Schoenbacher (1-1, 2B) had the other hits for PCHS.

Crawford&#39;s single ended with a three-base error by the Rangerettes, allowing Crawford to come all the way around to score. The senior played the field for the first time in 2011 on Tuesday, seeing two innings in right field, but not having to make any plays.

The Lady Panthers (18-10) finish up Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference Mississippi Division play on Wednesday at home, hosting Anna-Jonesboro. PCHS then hosts Marissa on Friday and Elverado on Monday to close out the regular season.
