Elsie Baynes

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Elsie Baynes, 80, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:27 a.m., Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Elsie was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Du Quoin. She had been an active church choir member, served on several church committees and was a deacon. She had been a member of the Du Quoin Garden Club, Monday Club and Domestic Science Club.

She was born April 2, 1931 at Monifieth, Scotland, the daughter of Alexander and Isabella ( Murphy ) Hendry.

She is survived by a daughter- Susan Baynes Cook and husband Steve of Hinsdale, Ill., son- Billy Alexander Baynes and wife Lisa of Nashville, Tenn., six grandchildren- Trevor Cook, Grace Cook, Olivia Baynes, Ryan Baynes, Alec Baynes and Julian Baynes.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services were at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the First United Presbyterian Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Tim Scroggins officiating.

Friends called from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Friends may make memorials to the First United Presbyterian Church and will be accepted at the church or the funeral home.
