David H. Degenhardt
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[David H. "Herb" Degenhardt, age 66, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 11:14 p.m. peacefully at his home.
Herb was born on June 4, 1944 in Pinckneyville, Ill. a son to Joseph H. and Cora E. (Viers) Degenhardt. On Nov. 11, 1963, he married Mary J. Brand in St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. and she preceded him in death on April 10, 1993. He then married Colletta Fisher on Nov. 20, 1993 in Gatlinburg, Tenn. and she survives. He was a 1962 graduate of Pinckneyville High School. Herb worked at McDonnell-Douglas, St. Louis, Mo., for 10 years, US Gypsum, Pinckneyville, Ill., for one year, was co-owner of D and B Electric which he operated with his brother-in-law, Joe Brand, and was a chief electrician for Consol Coal Company #2 and #4, retiring as an electrical foreman. He then worked for Bucyrus as a foreman on a dragline in Freeport, Bahamas, retiring after 9 1/2 years. Herb was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. and enjoyed woodworking and shopping. He was a loving husband and father and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Herb is survived by his wife, Colletta Degenhardt of Pinckneyville, Ill.; one son, David J. Degenhardt (fiancé: Sandy Schleifer) of Murphysboro, Ill.; one daughter, Annette (Mike) Rodgers of Pinckneyville, Ill.; one brother, William V. "Vallie" (Kay) Degenhardt of Willisville, Ill.; one step-son, Richard Bolinski of Phoenix, Ariz.; one step-daughter, Becky (Ben) Pingel of Perryville, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Alison and Logan Degenhardt, Hunter Hicks and Wyatt Rodgers all of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Tristan, Isabella, Reagan and Mirra Pingel all of Perryville, Mo. and his faithful companion, Minnie the Schnauzer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary J. Degenhardt and one step-son, Jeffrey Bolinski.
Funeral services were held at St. Bruno Catholic Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. with Father Brian Barker officiating. Interment was in St. Bruno Catholic Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.
Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Friday, May 13, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. The rosary was recited at 8:30 a.m.
