</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[DuQuoin Baseball was scheduled to play at Vienna on Thursday--so they thought. Vienna had a scheduling problem so DuQuoin ended up playing at Zeigler-Royalton-Christopher. DuQuoin was happy about that since they won the game 19-12.
An interesting statistic--there were a total of 31 runs scored in the game by the teams, and there were 31 hits as well. DuQuoin got on the board first, scoring in the first inning. Z-R-C came back and scored six in the second inning. DuQuoin scored three in the third to make the score 6-4. Z-R-C took the lead back scoring six in the third. DuQuoin finished out the game scoring 5 in the fourth inning, seven in the sixth inning, and two in the seventh to take the win 19-12.
DuQuoin had a super hitting day. J.C. Davis was 3-6. Kegan Robbins was 4-4 with an RBI. Brandon George was 3-5 with an RBI. Drew Bennett was 3-5 with 3 RBI. Trent Bigham was 3-5 including a double and a two run home run. Bigham had 5 RBI in the game. Connor Wheeler was 4-5 with an RBI. Seth Baxter was 1-4. Jacob Stanhouse was 1-2 with an RBI. Dylan Pyron had an RBI on a sacrifice fly.
Three pitchers were used by Coach Craft in this game. Sam Kuhnert started going 1 2/3 innings. Kuhnert allowed 4 hits on 6 runs (earned), had 3 walks and 1 strikeout. Brendan Fred relieved going 2 1/3 innings allowing 7 hits on 6 runs (5 earned), and 3 strikeouts. Trent Bigham went 3 innings allowing no runs, 4 hits, had one walk and 3 strikeouts.
DuQuoin's overall record is 11-12 and 3-6 in the conference. DuQuoin has one more conference game on Friday at Anna-Jonesboro before starting the regional on Monday. DuQuoin plays Waltonville at home at 4:30 in the first round of the regional. The winner would advance to Pinckneyville on Thursday.
Coach Tim Craft was elated at his team's performance. "We were down 12-4 in the third inning--the kids did a good job of hitting the ball, and just kept battling. The top of the order had a good day at the plate for us. Bigham shut the door on Z-R-C, and got the job done. Jon Boss was substituted defensively, and in the fifth inning made a great throw to home to get a runner out at the plate and kept them from scoring. We are playing really good ball right now."
DuQuoin struggled early in the season, but has made great strides in the past few weeks. They are just one win away from playing .500 ball, which would be a great accomplishment after such a dismal beginning. The Indians seem to be peaking at the right time of the season.
