Proud Moment: Genesio Sworn in as IESMA President
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Chuck Genesio, Coordinator of the Du Quoin Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA), was sworn in as the President of the Illinois Emergency Services Management Association (IESMA) at the association's annual conference in East Peoria on April 15, 2011.
Genesio commands the respect of agencies statewide for his coordination of the 2003 Tamaroa chemical train derailment, his planning ability and his commitment to updating emergency equipment and training.
As President of IESMA, Genesio is responsible for presiding at all association meetings and meetings of the IESMA Executive Board. The President also appoints association committees and represents the association in relation to official activities and functions.
Mr. Genesio has served as Coordinator of Du Quoin ESDA for 16 years, holds accreditation as an Illinois Professional Emergency Manager and is member of the IESMA Emergency Management Assistant Team. He also serves as the Assistant Coordinator for the Perry County Emergency Management Agency.
Other local emergency managers who were sworn in to executive positions with IESMA on April 15th were Ryan Buckingham (Franklin County) as Second Vice President and Nancy Schilling (Randolph County) as Treasurer.
The Illinois Emergency Services Management Association is an association of local and county emergency managers in Illinois to promote effective local emergency management programs and represent local and county emergency managers with state and federal agencies. IESMA also provides training and coordinates various federal grants for local emergency management agencies.
