</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Tax bills will be mailed this Thursday, June 9. The first installment is due July 15 and the second on Aug. 19.

The greatest change will be for taxpayers in the City of Du Quoin. Du Quoin had been in the habit of abating all or most of its real estate taxes for the past three years. This year, taxpayers will see most of that liability restored on their bills. City officials say the funds are needed to pay pension and medical insurance costs.

The only other major change over last year was the drop in EAV for the Township 5-3 (Pinckneyville).

The bulk of the tax bills are paid to the local school districts. Those in the 204 and PCHS School Districts pay the highest combined rate at $5.8793, followed by Du Quoin Unit Dist. 300 at $5.6912. Those in the Tamaroa Dist. 5 and PCHS Districts will pay $5.5885. The lowest combined rate is Pinckneyville District 50 and PCHS at $4.3177 and the lowest overall rate is $3.8583 for the Trico Unit School District.
