It's back! For the 3rd year, Dancing With OUR Stars, a fundraiser for Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois, will be held at Krieger's Convention Center at the Holiday Inn in Mt. Vernon on Saturday, July 23, 2011. Enterprise Rent-A-Car is the event's presenting sponsor. Other sponsors include Community First Bank of the Heartland (Vote Tabulation Sponsor), A & K Printing (Printing Sponsor), National Railway Equipment Co. (Silent Auction Sponsor), Edmison & Associates, LLC (Dance Floor Sponsor) People's National Bank (Table Sponsor) and ONESTOP (Trophy Sponsor).
"We are very excited about our upcoming Dancing With OUR Stars fundraiser," said Rebecca Neu, GSSI Director of Fund Development. "We are still looking to welcome dance teams to participate in this fun and entertaining event." For more information about DWOS, to sign up as a dance team, sponsor the event or purchase tickets, please call Rebecca Neu at 618.242.5079.
Tickets for the event are $45. Tables of 10 are available for $450. For ticket sales or sponsorship opportunities please call Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois at 618.242.5079 or e-mail dancing@gsofsi.org.
The event's agenda consists of a cash bar and silent auction beginning at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the Celebrity Star Dancers start performing at 7:30 p.m. After our stars take to the floor, our guests can dance until midnight thanks to DJ Mike Vladetich.
Money raised during DWOS helps support Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois's mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. According to Ms. Neu, donations to DWOS will be used to provide financial assistance to at-risk girls, for camp maintenance and improvements and to develop Girl Scout leadership programs for nearly 14,000 girls throughout southern Illinois.
Mike Beard will service as the emcee and Lynn Hutchison as co-host for the evening. Celebrity judges for the DWOS event are David Lister, Dawn Heacock and Roger Mulch. The judges' scores provide the first element to the dancers' scores. The second element includes audience participation and will add even more fun to an already entertaining event. The audience will be asked to vote with money for their favorite dancers. The audience's "money votes" will be calculated along with the judges scores to determine the winner of the sought after mirror ball trophy!
Currently, the line-up of dances include: Rob and Sarah Dyer, Mt. Vernon Junior Women's Club, Tammy and Fred Klapetzky, Brian Mooney and Ms. April and Melanie England and the Terrific Zumbas. For more information about being one of our dance teams, please contact Rebecca Neu at 618.242.5079 or e-mail her at HYPERLINK "mailto:Rneu@gsofsi.org" Rneu@gsofsi.org
Lighting and videography for the dances will be provided by Fred Klapetzky.
