The Du Quoin Garden Club is sponsoring a Garden Walk from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. to view six stunning gardens.
Tickets are $5.00 and can be purchased at the Gazebo/Mini Park in downtown Du Quoin the day of the Walk. The gardens on the Walk belong to Richard and Doris Rottschalk, Dawson and Irma Dean Duncan, Paul and Renee Dintleman, Floyd and Peggy Waller, Sean Higgins, and Susan Giffin. Here are brief snippets of what you will see in each garden.
The Dintleman garden has over eight garden beds arranged attractively around their yard. Be sure to notice the bottle trees. The Giffin shade garden will have a display of garden themed quilts. Ask about the sundial. The Rottschalk garden, Pixie Hollow, was made especially for Lily, a fairy, who you might see. Look for the twin holly trees.
Notice the trellis in the Waller border garden and the different grasses and large succulents. A large hornbeam tree will catch your eye in the Duncan garden, as will the perennial border beds and the vegetable garden. Unusual conifers are in the Higgins' front yard with terraced gardens in the back. Refreshments will be served at the Duncan garden.
Plan now to spend a day on the Du Quoin Garden Club's Garden Walk, Saturday, June 11.
