In game one, Pinckneyville-Du Quoin's pitching held Steeleville's bats in check for a 5-1 win behind starter Justin Bumann.

Bumann threw five innings to start the game, allowing an earned run. C. J. Opp closed the door in the sixth and seventh.

Opp was making just his second appearance on the mound following a mid-season injury that prevented him from pitching down the stretch for the Pinckneyville Panthers.

Bumann (1-3, 2 R), Opp (1-3, 2B, RBI, BB), Joey Burris (1-3, R, 2 RBI, BB), Evan Chapman (1-2, 2B, HBP) and Zach Phillips (1-2, R, HBP) had hits for Pinckneyville-Du Quoin Posts 2504 & 704.

Burris' two-out, two-RBI single in the second made it 3-0, and P-DQ tacked on another in the third thanks to a pair of errors by Steeleville. Opp doubled to score Burris in the sixth for an insurance tally.

E. Chapman tossed a complete game one-hitter in the second match on Monday night, allowing one run while fanning eight in a 12-1 win for the home squad.

Dustin Vanmeter (2-3, 2B, 3B, 3 RBI) and Hunter Queen (2-3, HR, 3 RBI) both had a pair of hits for P-DQ. Dylan Hardin (1-3, RBI) and Luke Chapman also drove in runs with base hits.

Posts 2504 & 704's Junior (#1) team is at home again on Tuesday, hosting Trico for a 5:00 p.m. doubleheader. They will travel to Sparta on Wednesday, then return home on Saturday to meet P-DQ's #2 Juniors for two starting at 4:00 p.m.

Senior Legion team holds off Marissa 6-1

In Marissa, the Senior Pinckneyville-Du Quoin Legion team got a complete game from Noah Hepp and won on the road 6-1.

Hepp allowed just four hits in the game and also struck out four batters.

Bryant Shute (4-4, 3 RBI) and Brandon George (3-3, 2 RBI) both had perfect days at the plate. Adam Barczewski (1-4), Trent Bigham (3-4, RBI), and Brandon Long (2-3) also had hits.
