Marion Marvin Darnell

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Marion Marvin Darnell, 70, of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:27 a.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at the St. Francis Medical Center at Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Marvin had worked as a laborer in construction. He honorably served his country as a E-4 in the U.S. Army. He was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Du Quoin Eagles, V.F.W. and American Legion.

He was born Feb. 7, 1941 at West Frankfort, Ill., the son of Marion and Dovie Marie (Agnew) Darnell.

He married Joanne Howells on Dec. 14, 1985 at Du Quoin, Ill. and she preceded him in death on April 12, 1999.

He is survived by two daughters - Robin Bullock and husband John of Royalton and Julie Campbell of Tracey City, Tenn., one granddaughter - Ashley Smith of Royalton, one grandson - Aiden Layne of Tracey City, Tenn., several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and several brothers and sisters.

Graveside services were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 24, 2011 at the Paradise Cemetery at Tamaroa, Ill. with Rev. Gary Pate officiating.

Burial was in the Paradise Cemetery at Tamaroa.

Military graveside rites were conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion.

Those attending the service were asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Friends may make memorials to the Du Quoin Eagles Children&#39;s Christmas Party and will be accepted at the funeral home.
