SWIMMING: Indians crush Anna, Cravens breaks team records
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Swimming Indians dominated this past Thursday's home meet against Anna's Blue Dolphins, outscoring the visitors 467-178 in overall points, also seeing two 9-10 year-old girls' records broken by Olivia Cravens.
Cravens finished first in the 9-10 year-old girls' 50m freestyle, 25m butterfly and 100m individual medley, breaking Swimming Indians records with times of 33.40 seconds in the 50m freestyle and 16.56 in the 25m butterfly.
The 50m freestyle record was previously set in 2004 by Taylor Stanhouse (34.26), the 50m butterfly mark had stood since 1990 (Caryn Parrish, 17.15).
Olivia Cravens wasn't the only Du Quoin swimmer earning multiple victories on Thursday for the Indians. For the girls, Addi Darnell (6&U 25m freestyle, 25m backstroke), Maya Russell (7-8 50m freestyle, 25m backstroke), Rachel Gomes (9-10 25m freestyle, 25m backstroke), Haley Kuhnert (11-12 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 50m breaststroke), Quinn Kirkpatrick (11-12 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 100m individual medley), Madeleine Cravens (13-14 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly), Shelby Simmons (13-14 100m freestyle, 100m IM), and Miranda Payne (15-18 100m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 100m IM) all grabbed at least two first place finishes for Du Quoin.
Boys earning multiple wins included Jakob Eaton (6&U 25m freestyle, 25m backstroke), Jacob Harsy (7-8 50m freestyle, 25m backstroke, 25m butterfly), Nicholas King (11-12 50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke), Chris Zuck (11-12 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 100m IM), Trevor Jones (13-14 50m freestyle, 100m IM), Cody Bailey (13-14 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly), William Galik (13-14 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke), Caseton Luthy (15-18 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle) and Jerry Kuhnert (15-18 100m breaststroke, 100m IM).
Other individual Du Quoin wins came from Courtney Rudloff (girls 13-14 50m breaststroke), Taylor Stanhouse (girls 15-18 50m freestyle), David Gomes (boys 7-8 25m breaststroke), Joshua Heape (boys 9-10 25m breaststroke) and Paxton Higgerson (boys 9-10 100m IM).
Du Quoin is in action again this Tuesday at Marion.
