SWIMMING: Du Quoin cruises past Centralia

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Swimming Indians continued a fine 2011 season on Thursday night, easily defeating Centralia 488-112 at the Seals&#39; home pool and once again seeing team records fall.

Olivia Cravens kept her impressive run in the 9-10 girls division going with three victories and two team records; one an improvement of her own 100m individual medley (1:24.98), the other a new record in the 25m breaststroke (20.15). Taylor Stanhouse previously held the 25m breaststroke mark with a time of 20.22 seconds. In addition to those two events, Cravens also won the 25m backstroke.

Cody Bailey and Jerry Kuhnert also improved team records which they already owned. Bailey won both the boys 13-14 100m freestyle and the 50m butterfly, setting the new record in the freestyle with a time of 1:01.72, besting his old mark by over a second (1:02.90). Kuhnert also won two events, the boys 15-18 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke, and bettered his team record in the 100m IM at a time of 1:08.44, good for second place at Thursday&#39;s meet.

Quinn Kirkpatrick (girls 11-12 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 50m breaststroke), Madeleine Cravens (girls 13-14 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 100m IM) and Jacob Harsy (boys 7-8 25m freestyle, 50m freestyle, 25m breaststroke) joined Cravens as winners of three races.

Addi Darnell (girls 6&un 25m freestyle, 25m backstroke), Maya Russell (girls 7-8 25m freestyle, 50m freestyle), Emma Fischer (girls 7-8 25m backstroke, 25m breaststroke), Miranda Payne (girls 15-18 100m backstroke, 100m IM), Gage Green (boys 6&un 25m freestyle, 25m backstroke), Chris Zuck (boys 11-12 50m backstroke, 100m IM), and Matthew Galik (boys 13-14 50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke) were double winners for Du Quoin along with Bailey and Kuhnert.

Other girls&#39; victories on Thursday for the Swimming Indians came from Lauren Heape (girls 7-8 25m butterfly), Josie Bailey (girls 9-10 25m freestyle), Alexandria Gossman (girls 11-12 50m butterfly), Matilyn Harsy (girls 11-12 100m IM), Shelby Simmons (girls 13-14 100m freestyle), Courtney Rudloff (girls 13-14 50m breaststroke), and Alicia Stanhouse (girls 15-18 50m butterfly)

Boys&#39; winning one event were Tyler VanZandt (boys 7-8 25m backstroke), Trae Horn (boys 708 25m butterfly), Paxton Higgerson (boys 9-10 25m breaststroke), Jacob Green (boys 9-10 25m butterfly), Nicholas King (boys 11-12 50m breaststroke), Aaron Korbar (boys 11-12 50m butterfly), William Galik (boys 13-14 50m backstroke), Trevor Jones (boys 13-14 100m IM), Caseton Luthy (boys 15-18 50m freestyle), and Zack Cavitt (boys 15-18 50m butterfly).

The Swimming Indians return to the pool on July 7 at Herrin.
