Daniel Wayne Epplin
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Daniel Wayne Epplin, 51, of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:00 a.m., Thursday, June 30, 2011 at his residence.
Danny had worked as an IT Specialist at Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin for three years. He was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin and had been on the Church Council, Building and Grounds Committee and was a technical advisor. He was a HAM Radio Operator and was a member of Perry County Emergency Services. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping and woodworking. Danny was also a member of the American Thresherman Association.
He was born April 28, 1960 at Pinckneyville, Ill., the son of Aloysius J. and Verna Lee (Seibert) Epplin.
He married Nancy Ellen Harsy on May 18, 1985 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Du Quoin and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, three sons - Eli Aloysius Epplin, Chace Daniel "Ace" Epplin and Hayden Joseph Epplin, all of Du Quoin, his mother - Verna Lee Epplin of Du Quoin, one sister - Cynthia Ann Merkel and husband Robert of Benton, brother-in-law - Don Harsy and wife Beverly of Du Quoin, three sisters-in-law - Jackie Reichert of Du Quoin, Dixie Dearmond and husband Roy of Du Quoin and Beth Martin and husband Kevin of Elkville, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, one brother - David Allen Epplin, maternal and paternal grandparents, four uncles and six aunts.
Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, July 3, 2011 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Rich Luh officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to Epplin Memorial Fund for his sons' education and will be accepted at the funeral home.
