Veterans' Day celebrations begin with a parade at 10 a.m., followed by a ceremony by the American Legion in Keyes Park. The recognition of Vietnam Vets will take place at the Du Quoin VFW.

On July 16, veterans will be invited to register for an interview for a book being written about them. The name of the book has not yet been chosen. The Du Quoin Rotary Club and Du Quoin High School have worked together on a World War II book and a Korean War book. The next in line is the Vietnam book.

The book is based on individual interviews of veterans about their personal perspective and experience during the war. The interviews will be conducted by Du Quoin High School students.
