Maude Essie Cook

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Maude Essie Cook, 86, of Du Quoin, departed this life Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 6:05 a.m. at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

She worked many years as a seamstress and retired while working at Bridal Originals. She enjoyed baking and sharing her baked goods with others. She also loved to travel. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Du Quoin and the ILGW.

She was born Oct. 30, 1924 at Du Quoin, Ill., the daughter of William and Maude (Tackett) Stroud.

Maude married Walter Marion Cook on April 14, 1941 at Perryville, Mo. and he preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1983.

She is survived by a daughter- Angela Roach and husband Conrad of Du Quoin, granddaughters- Kerry Maguire and husband Stacy of Belleville, Ill., Helene Pearson and husband Chris of Kelsey, Calif., Debbie Cook of Houston, Tex. and Nichole Cook. She was blessed with four great grandchildren- Jessica and Darby Maguire and Sean and Ryan Pearson. She is also survived by a brother- Charles Stroud and wife Carole of Du Quoin and sister-in-law- Hilda Cook of Du Quoin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-Rodger, brothers- Marvin Stroud, Lyle Stroud, Bill Stroud and Loren Stroud, sisters- Rose Vickery and Ruth Sizemore.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at the Second Baptist Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Ted Clark officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. , Monday, June 27, 2011 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church on Tuesday.

Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
