William Ray Irvin
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[William "Billy" Ray Irvin, 52, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:45 a.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at his home.
Billy had worked in construction. He had served his country in the U.S. Army from 1977 to 1979. He had a love for fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his grandchildren. He always had a story or a joke to tell. He was a member of the Du Quoin Eagles Lodge.
He was born March 17, 1959 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of Perry and June (Ridgeway) Irvin.
He married Joyce Cooper on Aug. 1, 1990 at Du Quoin, Ill. and she survives.
He is survived by his mother - June Dunmyer of Elkville, three sons - Bryan Irvin and wife Kory, Robert Irvin and wife Heather and Billy Wayne Irvin, all of Du Quoin, brothers and sisters - Bobby Irvin of Du Quoin, Cyndi Irvin Pitman of Du Quoin, Cherie Irvin of Belleville, Ill., Stoney Irvin of Decatur, Ill., Leanna Clark and husband Steve of Herrick, Ill., Jeffrey Dunmyer and wife Tish of Herrin, Jan Cloward of Elkville, Debbie Falter and husband Roy of Elkville, David and Chriss Dunmyer of Elkville, Dale Dunmyer of Elkville, Sarah Dunmyer of Murphysboro, Doug Dunmyer of Elkville and Karen Pohlmier and husband Chad of Bondurant, Iowa, four grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father - Perry Irvin, Granny and Grandpa Irvin, Grandpa Ernie Ridgeway, Grandma Clara Ridgeway, nephew - Marshall Irvin and brother - Jimmy Dunmyer.
Billy had a long, hard battle with cancer. He had many friends. The family would like to send out a special thanks to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Billy Ray will be loved and missed by all.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Doug Dunmyer officiating.
Friends called from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Military graveside rites were conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W., American Legion, and Army National Guard.
Friends may make memorials to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
