Raymond D. Margenthaler
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Raymond D. Margenthaler, age 79, of Tamaroa, Ill., passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 1:00 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, Ill.
Raymond was born on Aug. 25, 1931 in Pinckneyville, Ill., a son to Phillip Richard and Dotha B. (Queen) Margenthaler. On Sept. 3, 1949 he married Patricia A. Hamilton in Pinckneyville, Ill. and she survives. Raymond worked as a coal miner for Peabody Riverking #1 in Freeburg, Ill., Zeigler #21 in Sesser, Ill. and Zeigler #11 in Coulterville, Ill. until his retirement. He also worked as a carpenter for Vick Provart and then worked with Bob Nehrkorn doing carpentry work for several years. Raymond was a former member of the Cross Baptist Church and then attended the Tamaroa First Baptist Church, Tamaroa, Ill. He was a member of the U.M.W.A., enjoyed hunting, gardenin, and spending time outdoors. Raymond was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Patricia Margenthaler of Tamaroa, Ill.; two sons, Ricky Lee (Luana) Margenthaler of Hueytown, Ala. and Raymond (Lisa) Margenthaler, Jr. of Tamaroa, Ill.; two daughters, Peggy (Allen) Valentine of Tamaroa, Ill. and Julie (Scott) Hill of Pinckneyville, Ill.; one brother, Richard (Dixie) Margenthaler of Pinckneyville, Ill.; one sister, Mildred Nehrkorn of Pinckneyville, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and several dear nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty Kelley and three brothers, Creal, Walter and Jim Margenthaler.
Funeral services were held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Raymond Baggott officiating. Interment was in Campbell Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.
Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
