BREAKING NEWS: CHESTER WOMAN ABDUCTED
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[On July 25, 2011 at 12:39 am the Chester Police Department received a phone call advising a 20 year old female from Chester was abducted from the sidewalk in the 1400 block of State Street. Units from Chester Police, including K-9, Randolph County Sheriff's Office and the Steeleville Police K-9 Unit responded to the scene.
After allegedly kidnapping the victim, the suspect allegedly drove the victim to Murphysboro, Illinois via Percy, Illinois and released her. This female subject was located at approximately 2:45 am by Jackson County Sheriff's Deputies in Murphysboro, Illinois. She was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital to receive medical attention.
After intense around-the-clock investigation involving the Chester Police Department, Randolph County Sheriff's Office, and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office the alleged suspect was identified. Steven J. Martin of Willisville, Illinois was taken into custody on July 25, 2011 at 4:48 pm and charged with Kidnapping, Unlawful Restraint and Aggravated Battery. Other charges are pending against Martin as police from Randolph, Perry and Jackson Counties continue their investigations.
