Costello II Sworn into Office as State Representative
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ On Monday, Jerry Costello II (D-Smithton) was sworn into office as the new state Representative of the 116th District. He was appointed to replace the open seat vacated by former Rep. Dan Reitz (D-Steeleville). The swearing in ceremony was held at the Monroe County Courthouse in Waterloo, where family, friends, and supporters gathered to witness Costello take the oath of office.
"It is an incredible honor to represent our district and I am so grateful for the opportunity to help strengthen our communities and improve our state," Costello said. "My goal is to provide high quality constituent services, take action to create jobs and defend and protect the values we share in Southern Illinois."

State Rep. Jerry F. Costello II (D-Smithton) has opened his constituent service office in Sparta.
"Voting on legislation and representing residents' concerns in Springfield is only part of what being a state representative is about," Costello said. "We must also serve constituents' needs here at home. My office will play a major role in making sure people receive critical state services and get assistance from state agencies, so maintaining a full-time constituent service office is important."
Costello's office, located at 128A West Main St. in Sparta, is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For those unable to contact their state representative during those hours, Costello will also be soon establishing Working Family Office Hours that keep the office open later during certain days of the month.
In addition, Costello is setting up a number of monthly satellite office locations throughout the district, to service constituents who are unable to make the trip to Sparta.
"One of my goals is to be as accessible as possible to my constituents and keep an open flow of communication with those I represent," Costello added. "I want everyone in the area to know they can turn to my office if they need help in any way."

Costello represents the 116th Representative District, which is comprised of the western half of Perry County, all of Randolph and Monroe counties, and the southern portion of St. Clair County.
