New VanMetre Field Turf Installed

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Traffic around VanMetre Field at the Du Quoin High School has been steady since a New York contractor completed the installation of the new artificial turf on the field.

The vivid green field, lined in white with the historic laced "DQ" in the middle is catching the attention of prep football fans everywhere. The only thing left is to broom a ground-up rubberized material down through the new surface which acts much like a carpet pad.

Heavy rains prevented infield work on the new baseball field. Contractors returned to New York and will come back to finish that job later.

Attention this week focuses on paving the track around the outside of the field.
