Guns vs. Hoses Benefit Game Tonight at Rent One
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Rent One Park in Marion will host a Guns vs. Hoses softball game prior to the Southern Illinois Miners' baseball game against the Rockford RiverHawks tonight. Local law enforcement officers and firefighters will battle it out on the diamond beginning at 5:15 p.m. The Miners' game will begin at 7:05 p.m.
Admission to both games will be included in the regularly priced Miners ticket for the day.
In light of the tragedy that took place in Pinckneyville earlier this year with the loss of Du Quoin firefighter Corey Shaw, the Southern Illinois Miners will donate 50 percent of the price of each ticket purchased for the game to the Shaw Memorial Fund.
The Miners will also donate their portion of the night's 50-50 raffle to the Shaw Memorial Fund as Southern Illinois comes together to remember a fallen hero.
Gates will open at 5 p.m. for the game, and group rates are available for groups as small as 10 people.
Two members of the Du Quoin Police Department and Du Quoin Fire Department staffs--Rustin Juhl and Jordan Crain--will play in the game. The newspaper understands Pinckneyville officer Nathan Murray, sheriff's officers Scott Kellerman and Mike Schneider and Tamaroa fireman Matt Valentine hope to participate, as well. This would be a great night for Perry County Miners' baseball fans to see both a great benefit softball game and a great baseball game.
