Metropolis Couple Donates Former Illinois Human Resources Offices to Food Pantry
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Du Quoin Food Pantry has become the very excited and deserving owners of the former Department of Human Resources building at 314 N. Maple St. in Du Quoin.
J.M. Walters and Sons of Metropolis, IL who leased the building to the state before the office was closed earlier this year, turned the keys over to officers of the Board of Directors of the Food Pantry on Friday, August 19 as a charitable donation to the community.
Board members and volunteers alike are looking forward to the extra space, ample parking and off-street loading.
The building is also ADA compliant. Plans for a grand opening will be announced as soon as possible, hopefully in time for the community and school food drives traditionally held each fall.
The pantry will continue to operate at its current location at 121 N. Hickory St. until the move. Hours of operation are 9-11 Tuesday and Thursday mornings and 6-8 Thursday evening.
