Committee to Prepare Presentation on Unit Road District Advisory Board for County Commissioners
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Perry County Commissioner Sam Robb has agreed to work with State's Attorney David Stanton and County Engineer Doug Bishop on the formation of an advisory committee to oversee the Unit Road District.
Stanton reported that he has asked other counties to send copies of their ordinances establishing oversight committees. He told the board that they have two choices: sever all ties with the Unit Road District or form the committee.
Stanton, Robb and Bishop will work together on a presentation for the board.
Fallout from the status change to full-time for two mowers and hiring of an assistant foreman and their subsequent layoffs continued at Thursday's County Board meeting.
John Bolinski questioned why the employees were laid off instead of fired. Stanton explained that he is working with the Laborer's Local 773 to see if the two mowers can be restored to their part-time status.
In other business, the board:
heard from County Clerk Kevin Kern that budget preparations will begin immediately after Labor Day. Office holders will be asked to submit their budgets by the first week of October. At the same time, a request for line items that need to be adjusted on the 2011 budget will be sent. The line item adjustments will be due before the next regular meeting. Kern said that many of the line items for salaries will need to be adjusted.
approved a 10-year special use permit for Russell Bathon to place a new manufactured home on Fleur De Lis Road approximately a quarter mile south of Route 13.
reappointed Natalie Brand as Supervisor of General Assistance for a four-year term to expire in November 2015.
reappointed Jane Chapman, James Engelhardt and Jim Epplin to the University of Illinois Extension Board.
