"It's deeply troubling that Governor Quinn would target the Chester Mental Health facility and the Illinois Youth Center at Murphysboro, these two facilities employ a lot of citizens in our region. I'm concerned that Governor Quinn is making these decisions based on a political motivation and not on sound budgetary advice," Luechtefeld said. "I am committed to working with local leaders and area legislators to make sure that we can hopefully prevent these closures."
Senator Luechtefeld reiterated that this is only the beginning of the facility closure process and it will take time for these to become official.
