Pinckneyville Finances Look Good
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[City treasurer Rick Reese reported that the city currently has $6.239 million in the bank with $2.1 million of that being unrestricted funds.
The recent influx of funds comes from real estate taxes and a payment from the state for under-billed utilities at the prison.
Mayor August Kellerman said he is very proud of the fact that the state has been making timely payments on the utility bills for the prison.
"We received a payment Sept. 8 for $83,000," he said. "Now the state owes only $178,000 for July and August."
In other business, the council:
agreed to sell the City Hall Annex at 111 S. Walnut Street to E & R Media for $30,000. Mayor Kellerman said he didn't know exactly when E & R Media, which owns the Pinckneyville Press, could take possession of the building, but expects it will take about two weeks to clear out the remaining furnishings owned by the city.
approved an agreement with economic development consultant Gene Norber for technical services and assistance. Norber receives $250 per hour on an as-needed basis.
accepted the resignation of Kenneth Graskewicz from the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners and appointed Austin Marlow to the board.
agreed to adjourn the meeting to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19 for a presentation on water tower maintenance.
