</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Chester High School Lady Yellow Jackets Golf team was the champion of their début match of the 2011 season against Steeleville and Trico. Chester won the three-team event with a low score of 240. Steeleville was the runner-up with a close score of 244 while Trico landed the 3rd place position with a score of 246. Kalyn Wingerter was the low scorer for the Jackets with a score of 52 followed by teammates Taylor Gross (60), Maddie Conner (61), Tawnee Keel (66) and Ally Briggs (74). Sophomores Conner and Briggs and Keel, a junior, are rookies who are playing for the first times in their lives in 2011. Wingerter and Gross are juniors. The 2011 season is the first time in recent years that CHS has even had enough girls to field a team. CHS has had several individual girls who have represented CHS at matches, but the 2011 squad boasts a five-girl team. The victory against Steeleville and Trico is also the first time in recent history and possibly the first time in the history of the CHS golf program that a girl's team has ever won a match.
