The Illinois 4-H Foundation established the statewide Hall of Fame in 2005 to honor and celebrate extraordinary 4-H alumni, volunteers, and former 4-H staff. Nominations for the Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame are made by University of Illinois Extension staff. Together, the 52 members of the Hall of Fame's Class of 2011 have been involved with 4-H as members and 4-H club leaders for more than 1,118 years! Each member resides from a different Illinois county. Donna McBride from Coulterville was nominated by the Randolph County Extension Office. Donna is entering her thirty-first year as a leader of the Scotland Raiders 4-H Club. She has dedicated numerous hours volunteering at 4-H show days, fundraisers, and other events. 4-H is a family affair as many of her children and grandchildren are involved in 4-H or have been involved in 4-H.
Each inductee received a commemorative Hall of Fame medallion and will be added to the virtual 4-H Hall of Fame listing at 4hfoundation.illinois.edu/hall_of_fame ."These individuals have done so much for our Illinois 4-H Youth Development Program", said Angie Barnard, director of the Illinois 4-H Foundation. "Their endless devotion to the 4-H youth and this program is invaluable! We are pleased to be able to pay tribute to their legacy for future generations to learn from."
The Illinois 4-H Foundation raises private funds that are invested in Illinois 4-H programs that provide meaningful, positive development experiences for Illinois youth to develop leadership, citizenship, and life skills.
