"(Valentine) came out of the gates struggling a little bit, but he started to calm down and then hit a streak of pars," said Panthers' head golf coach Nolan Kellerman of his number one boys golfer. "He didn't have any big numbers today. All in all, I think it was a solid round. Sometimes the birdie putts don't fall, and you're going to have that, this was a difficult course."

Valentine's Panthers finished eighth out of the fourteen teams with a total of 387 at Tamarack with conference mate Nashville (315) steamrolling to a 21-stroke victory over the rest of the field. Marissa (336) and Red Bud (343) join the Hornets as teams advancing to Governer's Run on Monday for the Sectional.

Nashville's Kyle Mueller took home the medalist honor with a 74, four strokes better than runner-up Jacob Miller (Red Bud).

Other Pinckneyville golfers participating at Tamarack were Kyle Brocaille (98), Lee Wittenauer (104), Alec Brand (104), Michael Siefert (106) and Patrick Kovic (131).

In addition to the three advancing teams, Valentine and nine other individuals will move on to Monday's Class A Sectional at Governor's Run in Carlyle.

Other advancing individuals were Sam Range (Waterloo Gibault), Dalton Moore (Trico), Klayton Coop (Sparta), Brandon Rickenberg (Trico), David Burns (Trico), Bennett Brown (Okawville), Jared Blumhorst (Okawville), Jacob Brammeier (Okawville) and Grant Weber (Trenton Wesclin).

The Pinckneyville boys wrapped up their season with a head-to-head record of 18-38, notching 13 of those wins in the final week and a half.

The Lady Panthers play host at Red Hawk on Wednesday for the Class A Girls Golf Regional, which tees off at 9:00 a.m. PCHS will look to defend its' title from 2010, which was the first golf Regional win in school history.

Indians' golf season ends at Crab Orchard
