</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to 649 calls for service in the month of August. 51 of those calls were generated by 911 calls and 607 calls for service in September with 43 of those calls being generated by 911 calls.
TIP HOTLINE:
The Randolph County Sheriff's Office hotline is now available to the public. Reports can now be made to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office hotline # at 618-826-6443. Callers can report any illegal activity, suspicious activity or safety issues within the county anonymously.
TELECOMMUNICATOR'S RECEIVE TRAINING:
Part-time Telecommunication Officer's Amy Mitchell and Bradley Gielow successfully completed an 8-hour Dispatch Professional course on September 16, 2011 held in Carterville, IL by the Southern Illinois Criminal Justice Training Program. Both also received certificates of achievement in Critical Incident Calls.
VICTIM'S ADVOCACY GRANT:
The Illinois Attorney General's Office has awarded the Sheriff's Office a grant through the Violent Crime Assistance Bureau to assist in funding the Randolph County Victim's Advocacy Program. The Sheriff's Office has provided victim's services through the funding of this grant annually since 2002. The Violent Crime Victim Assistance (VCVA) Bureau is dedicated to: developing and improving activities and services that promote the recognition of rights, needs, and interests of crime victims in Illinois; providing victims access to programs that supply needed information, assistance, and advocacy; educating the public about victim services; and ensuring that grantee agencies provide quality services.
DARE CONTRIBUTIONS:
Sheriff Mike Hoelscher would like to thank everyone for their generous D.A.R.E. contributions. The Randolph County Sheriff's Office D.A.R.E. Program includes 12 schools for this coming school year, eleven of those schools within Randolph County and 1 Trico school. Last year the program included 360 children at an estimated cost of $8.50 per child. If you are interested in making a contribution to the D.A.R.E. Program, please contact the Sheriff's Office to find out how you may do so.
EMERGENCY CONTACT DATABASE:
The Illinois Secretary of State has provided a voluntary and secure emergency contact database that allows Illinois drivers and those with Illinois identification cards to tenter emergency contact information into the database to be accessed by law enforcement in the event of a motor vehicle crash or other emergency where a person is unable to communicate. Law enforcement may access this information to help reach the person's designated emergency contacts and provide information to emergency/medical personnel on the scene of the emergency.
