VOLLEYBALL: Lady Panthers advance to Semifinals
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Pinckneyville got five kills from Denise Bruns and three blocks from Danielle Bruns as the Lady Panthers knocked off Johnston City in round one of the IHSA Class 2A Regional Volleyball Tournament at Benton High School on Monday.
The 25-14, 25-21 straight set victory advances PCHS into Tuesday's Regional Semifinal where they will meet top-seeded Benton.
Leading the Lady Panthers in digs was Lindsey Winter with 7, Danielle Bruns added 6, Evelyn Epplin 5, Alexis Bigham 4. Winter also led in assists with 11.
Also recording kills for PCHS were Haley Simpson (3), Morgan Wild (2), Shannon Nehrkorn (1), Da. Bruns (1), Bigham (1), and Winter (1).
Winter, Nehrkorn, Simpson and De. Bruns each added one block.
The Lady Panthers and Rangerettes take the court at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon to decide who will move on to Thursday's 7:00 p.m. championship to meet Du Quoin, West Frankfort or Sesser-Valier.
